“…At this time you, by feeling yourself victorious, will lose your cautiousness and will agree for some other, foggy, temporary alternative solution. …By promoting yourself the way you are doing now, you are putting your comrades-in-arms and your close entourage under imminent danger. Your destruction is everybody’s destruction, accompanied by the (dashnak – A.K.) Terror which was waiting to grasp Armenia already for long-long years.”

Segment from Vano Siradeghian’s prophetic letter written to Vazgen Sarkissian – November1998, “Haykakan Zhamanak” WHO CHEATED THE SPARAPET? "

WHO CHEATED THE SPARAPET?

Ov Khapets Sparapetin?

Today, March the 5th is Vazgen Sarkissian’s birthday. Unfortunately, already for 3 years Vazgen cannot celebrate his proper birthday, because he was assassinated by Armenian traitors in the heart of the Armenian capital Yerevan. Treacherous bullets fired against the Gharabagh Movement of Armenia that was launched in 1988, killed Vazgen Sparapet. Vazgen was killed with treacherous bullets fired by (Gharabagh and dashnak – A.K.) ‘Armenian’ traitors aimed against Gharabagh itself, by bullets fired against every single one of us, Armenian nationals. Today, March 5 is also significant for another occasion, which is directly linked with Vazgen’s assassination; more precisely said, with an attempt to prevent Vazgen’s assassination, because on March 5 1999, when Vazgen, along with his intimate friends and comrades-in-arms (including his future assassins, conspirators and traitors) was celebrating his 40th birthday, during the same days an article was handed over to the editorial office of “Aravot” Daily newspaper (10.03.99), which was the last attempt to warn Vazgen and to prevent the tragic assassination conspiracy against Vazgen that was to be executed only a few months later. This was politologist, political analyst and publicist late Tigran Hayrapetian’s last attempt. Yes, I am saying it with profound pain ‘his last attempt’, because till then Tigran Hayrapetian had already written several times and warned Vazgen about the anticipated conspiracy. Tragically, it was Tigran’s last alert, because exactly 3 days after the publication of Tigran Hayrapetian’s article in “Aravot”, in the night of March 8 1999, Tigran became the victim of a set up ‘car accident’, which more precisely, based on substantial evidence was an assassination operation. In the autumn of 1998, with his famous letter addresses to Vazgen, Vano Siradeghian was seriously warning the Sparapet about the coming danger: “Robert (Kocharyan – A.K.), [or I do not know still who else] have already found the only ‘appropriate’ alternative to liquidate Vazgen Sarkissian… Armenia hates them (e.g. the Gharabagh+dashnak brother-killing hyenas – A.K.); therefore they will inflict revenge for that hatred from several prominent personalities. Therefore, their mission will not be terminated just by your physical liquidation… With the present rules of the game, you will get defeated after not later than 7 months. Change the rules of the game… Do it, before they eat (Karen) Demirjian’s head.” Tigran Hayrapetian had wished to meet Vazgen. Let me remind the reader, that several days before the ‘car accident’, i.e., several days before March 8 1999, Tigran had talked by phone with vice-Minister of Defence Vahan Shirkhanian, asking from him to arrange a meeting with Vazgen Sarkissian. Exactly one month before this event, Gen. Ardzroun Markaryan’s (assassinated Commander of the Interior Armies of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of RA – A.K.) letter that was addressed to Vazgen Sarkissian had not reached its destination, and Ardzroun was killed on February 9 1999. A few months later, the president of “Zhoghovrtavarakan Hayreniq” (“Democratic Homeland”) party Edward Yegorian had attained an appointment with Vazgen, but this meeting was not held; On October 10 1999 Yegorian ‘suddenly’ died. In his last publication, Tigran Hayrapetian was warning us about the danger waiting ahead for him. But none of us paid attention to Tigran’s alert. We disregarded Tigran’s alert, the same way as we had neglected almost all of his warnings made in priory. Let us read again, from the distance of the past years, Tigran’s articles that have attained prophetic character. Let us try, at least now, to re-evaluate and understand everything that late Tigran Hayrapetian was trying to draw our attention in a very clear way and issue by issue, in the period extending between end of 1997 and March 5 1999. By presenting these facts to the reader, I am not pursuing the aim of proving anything. There is not a need to make any comments either, because Tigran Hayrapetian had formulated everything very simply and clearly; because its majesty Time already proved that everything Tigran Hayrapetian was saying was true. The only thing left for us to do, is to turn Tigran’s warnings into ear-rings and hang them from our ears, in order that in the future we do not refer with negligence to the warnings made by clever people like Tigran (or Vano Siradeghian – A.K.), and only after the Tragedy arrives, loyal to our (stupid – A.K.) national habit, we say, “ala~s! it was Armenian’s bad luck” (Hayi char bakht). Therefore, Tigran was writing the following, “I am afraid that the perspective of painting the streets with red blood is deeply implanted in the consciousness of our nations’ leaders.” Let me remind you again, that just three days after writing these words (“The Versus of Irresponsible Indifference” – “Anmeghsounakutyan kankhavarkadz@” – 05.03.1999), one of the central streets of Yerevan, Baghramyan Anenue was painted with Tigran Hayrapetian’s warm red blood. In the same article Tigran Hayrapetian wrote: “We could have ignored their most recent step of solving the problems the Armenian (forceful) way, if the operation did not follow Defense Minister Vazgen Sarkissian’s speech, where he was calling for wisdom and ‘cease-fire’. It is beyond any doubt, that the conspiracy was directed against the healthy thinking of finding common grounds for social accord. The conspiracy targeted the Minister of Defense, who is experiencing today most controversial and painful heart feelings. At least, do you understand gentlemen, towards what are they instigating the military and in what direction are they pulling the country? All political figures and forces in Armenia that are conscious of our national interests, are expected to show maximum positive attitude, in order that they fail in their attempts to put an end to the submissions of the (Gharabagh) Movement (of Armenia), by endlessly and ill-mindedly failing Vazgen Sarkissian’s constructive initiatives. The (Gharabagh) Movement (of Armenia) is our Statehood, our Independence; it is the liberated Mountainous Gharabagh. The Movement is the main guarantor of our national security. It is necessary to save the Movement by all means from the red-dark-gray disaster (i.e. ARF-dashnaktsutyun+Gharabagh murderous Mafia Clan blind nationalism and extremism – A.K.). It should not be tolerated that the start of the 21st century be signified with blood baths of ‘self-defense’. The defeat of the Movement is previewing this bad news.” The end of late Tigran Hayrapetian’s above-mentioned publication was not less prophetic: “If in the nearest future a confession for forgiveness is not heard from the highest authority of the Republic, if the authorities will not quit their Teutonic stance, and admit and confess their dishonest practices in front of the Armenian society, if the regime will not extend its hand to the political opposition, making a proposal of trying to attain a national accord on equal bases, then the path of the funeral starting from the “Officer’s Club” is very previewable.” In his article entitled “Towards the Next Coup d’Etat” printed in the May 26th 1998 issue of “Aravot” Daily (Editor-in-Chief: Aram Abrahamian – A.K.), Tigran Hayrapetian wrote: “…Yes, the shedding of the blood of (Vazgen’s) close comrades, and later on, the mass bloodshed will be the companion of double criminality. We can just pretend, that we are not noticing the dangerous start of this bloodshed. However, you should be cautious, ladies and gentlemen, by guiding the Sparapet (Vazgen Sarkissyan) to the gallows with your cold-blooded cynicism, with your wicked criminal enthusiasm, or with your blunt indifference, you are paving the way for your proper self-destruction. The policy of charging the atmosphere of Armenia with hatred and intolerance, is threatening to shed much blood, by sweeping on its way everything sacred – Fatherland, Statehood, Memory of the Past and the dream of a Better Future.” The last words of this publication are just shaking: “And now, long live the next state coup. A thousand ala~s to the cheated Sparapet…” I repeat that Tigran Hayrapetian wrote these words on May 26, 1998. Tigran Hayrapetian’s following words said during the March 4 1998 press conference were more than affectionate: “However, the most painful thing for me is the stance of the Defense Minister of RA (Sparapet Vazgen Sarkissian). A man, who is a Living Legend and will never from now on be perceived outside the idea of the Defense of the Fatherland, is cheated today (by Gharabaghtsi brother-killing hyenas Robik & Serzhik – A.K.) and has stood up against the Fatherland. What a nonsense national fate is this? The victorious Sparapet is condemned to become the victim of mean and nonsense political intrigues. Therefore, be brave enough to print the following words: ‘Vazgen Sarkissian will be the first victim of Robert Kocharyan’s illegitimate rule. Betraying your King (i.e. First President of RA Levon Ter-Petrossian – A.K.) was your greatest sin, Mr. Minister (Vazgen).” If we open the pages of the newspapers “Nor Oughi”, “Shrjan”, “Oragir”, “Aravot” printed during 1997-1999, then we will get convinced that many of the warnings, alerts and calls for awakening made to us by Tigran Hayrapetian have come out true. After all these repeated warnings, a natural question comes forth; what was Vazgen Sarkissian thinking about all this? The sad thing is that Vazgen was listening to all these warnings, but he was not showing any sign of discomfort. I think that there could be 2 reasons for Vazgen not to show any sign of worry or discomfort: 1. Vazgen thought that there was no need to worry, because he was informed about everything and he thought that the situation was under control. But as we witnessed, nothing in fact was in control; therefore this first possibility is not valid. 2. The second possibility for not showing any concern could be for testing reasons. For example, Mr. “X” in Vazgen’s entourage proposes to tolerate a testing procedure, in order to discover how do certain sides refer to Vazgen, in the sense that in this way those who were plotting conspiracies or assassination attempts against Vazgen would be uncovered and neutralized in the result. Hence, it becomes obvious that while such a ‘testing’ operation was on its way, Vazgen would simply neglect and laugh in his mind on Tigran Hayrapetian’s and others’ serious warnings, by mistakenly thinking that the ‘operation’ was nothing but a ‘testing’ procedure proposed by his ‘comradE-in-arms’ Mr. “X”. It is also clear that this Mr. X” who would propose this ‘testing’ operation should be someone from the secret services; moreover, not an ordinary secret agent (e.g. Serzhik Sarkissyan, who has a rich experience of intrigue-making and fratricide). However this, as I had mentioned above, is an imaginative development of the events. Imagination is imagination, but let us also not forget that my assumption is very characteristic to the work-style of the secret intelligence services. After all, one thing is for sure; there is no need to imagine about the participation of the secret services (Serzhik Sarkissyan’s KGB – A.K.) in the organization of “October 27” Terrorist coup, because this participation is already a proven fact.
