WAS “OCTOBER 27” A “STATE” OR “POLITICAL" COUP D’ETAT?

Directly after “October 27” and till today, the majority of both pro-regime and opposition partisan and political figures, have evaluated the operation of “October 27” as an attempt of STATE coup d’Ètat. I think that most of them unconsciously, but a part of them intentionally, consider “October 27” an attempt of a STATE coup d’Ètat. I fully understand the opinion of compatriots, who unconsciously support this opinion, as they are unable to see a difference between a STATE and a POLITICAL coup d’Ètat. However, after the analysis of the terrorist act of “October 27” and its consequences, it should be regarded as a realized POLITICAL COUP D’ETAT and not an attempt of a state coup d’Ètat. As you noticed, I said not “an attempt”, but “a realized political” coup d’Ètat. Let me try to substantiate my point of view.

As you could see, the criminals did not have an intention to harm (illegitimate – A.K.) Robert Kocharyan; moreover, they had not previewed in their plans to overthrow the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia. This means that the terrorists did not pursue the aim of overthrowing the state regime. In order to further clarify my idea; let me bring an example. If the criminals, or the forces that stood behind them were for example the fascists (in fact they are, as the ARF is a fascist-terrorist organization -–A.K.), or the communists, or followers of religious or sectarian groups, targeting to forcefully overthrow the state order, only in a case like this could “October 27” be considered a state coup d’Ètat. But as we all witnessed, their terrorist operation on October 27 was directed to annihilate precisely targeted people - Vazgen Sarkissyan, Karen Demirjyan (Leonard Petrossyan, Gharabagh’s exiled ex-Prime Minister, Demirjyan’s 2 Deputy Speakers of Parliament – A.K.) and others. The present situation in Armenia also witnesses that although 18 months have passed from the day of the Tragedy, but no change in state order has occurred in Armenia. Instead, it is obvious that a profound re-organization and “cleansing” of the political arena has been realized. Could these political resettings occur, if Vazgen Sarkissyan, the most influential personality in the military and political arena was still alive? Could these political resettings occur, if Karen Demirjyan, who had become the idol of almost all Armenians in the Homeland, was not physically liquidated? THINK WELL ABOUT THIS…

P.S. By the way, directly after “October 27”, almost everybody was suggesting that the organizers of the Massacre could easily be unmasked by answering to the following question:

“WHOM WAS OCTOBER 27 PROFITABLE TO?” Today, it is fully possible to answer to this question without any hesitation: IT WAS PROFITABLE TO ALL THOSE WHO BENEFITTED FROM THE ACT OF TERRORISM. The gradual and step by step political resettings of the last 18 months, are vivid proofs to point out who benefited from the physical liquidation of Vazgen Sarkissyan and Karen Demirjyan on October 27.
