the mobile workshop of Mr. Ghoukassyan has been
set to fire. (See

The
autobus-workshop of the freelance journalist
Vahagn Ghoukassian , which was
parked near the Economics Yerevan University of
Economics , has been set to fire and burnt down.
In reality, Ghoukassian has been deprived of his main
source to feed his family. Of course the official
propaganda machine
will insist that the circumstances of the fire are
not clarified yet. But, it should be noted that
such incidents do not happen incidentally. The
fact is that Vahagn Ghoukassian is the author of
several investigation-analytic
articles about the “October 27” case, and
these essays, to say the least, are not favorable
to the current regime.
In
this series can be classified his last two
articles, which were published
in our newspaper. The first one concluded that the
murderer of Armenak
Armenakian (executed outside the hall of the NA
– A.K.) was a member in the
terrorist group of (Chief Criminal – A.K.)
nayiri hounanian, and is still at large.
To prove his thesis, he had relied solely on the
results of the military
investigation.
In his second essay, Ghoukassian had pointed out
the guilty idleness of the National
Security Ministry (KGB) during the days of October
27. In any case, it is obvious that we are dealing
with political terrorism, which had started in
Armenia in 1998. We should remind that Vahagn
Ghoukassian had
received several threats by phone further to his
publications about October 27. And most
importantly, there are forces in Armenia
that are ready to deprive any individual in
opposition, from his last source of income. These
forces are trying to prove that in order to live
in Armenia, it is essential to be loyal to the
current regime, as a minimum.

Vahagn Ghoukassyan, the author
of several investigative publications concerning
“October 27” massacre case, has received
threats by telephone. According to Vahagn
Ghoukassyan, an unknown person has called him and
threatened, “You don’t realize what kind of
fire you are playing with”, and has demanded to
quit from now on researching through the
“October 27” case and writing in that theme.
Th caller has warned that Vahagn
Ghoukassyan should be “worried” about the
further security of the members of his family… V.
Ghoukassyan has informed the Interior Ministry
headquarters of the Shahoumyan Region of capital Yerevan about these threats.

The night before, the
workshop-bus which was standing opposite the
University of Economics, was almost completely
burnt down. It was a leather goods workshop which
belonged to Vahagn Ghoukassian. You have often
read in our newspaper articles written by him
about the events in connection to “October 27”
Terrorist case. It is hard to tell exactly at what
time the fire started, but about 1 a.m. the fire
brigade was already there and was extinguished the
fire quickly. According to the workshop owner, the
fire till that time had already caused a damage of
1000-1500 dollars. Furniture, as well as documents,
literature, articles related to the October 27
events
all were burnt down.
V.Ghoukassian excludes the possibility of “an
accident” that could have caused the fire. He
said, “I
evaluate this as a political liquidation for my
anti-authority activities, because the electricity
at the shop was off, and I don’t have any
personal enemy”. According to Vahagn Ghoukassyan,
he is now deprived of the possibility to work
working in his main hobby – essay-writing, ,
since by the burning the shop they have deprived
him of his
main source of income to support his family.
“Now I am obliged to look for new sources of
income”. After finding such a source,
Vahagn Ghougassian will continue
to write essays.
