ARTUSH MANOUKYAN
(agent
of the 2nd General Administration of KGB of Armenia)
"I
started my work in the KGB system starting from 1995… As
a special secret agent of the Ministry of National
Security I reply that at end of summer or in the start of
autumn 1998, I received 2 operative information, about
that Yerevan City resident nayiri hunanyan was planning to
visit Turkey in order to prepare a TV program on site…
Further
to my report to the leadership of the KGB about the in
hand information, the file was transmitted to my colleague
Karen Parounakyan, KGB secret agent working in the 2nd
General Administration, in order to carry out appropriate
research."

KAREN
MIKAYEL PAROUNAKYAN
(Secret
agent of the 2nd General Administration of KGB of Armenia)
[This
Karen Parounakyan is the KGB secret agent, who had
confessed in one of his testimonies that Chief Criminal
nayiri hunanyan was recruited as a spy by Armenia's KGB
agency - V. Gh.].
"Starting
from 1995 I started my work in the KGB system. Currently,
I am an operative officer of the 2nd General
Administration of KGB. I am replying to your question that
except nayiri hunanyan, I was not acquainted with any of
the remaining members of the /terrorist/ group…
Concerning my acquaintance and contacts with nayiri
hunanyan, I have known him since January 1999, in
connection with his planned journey to Turkey… Our
Administration had received operative information and I
was entrusted to perform corresponding operative work /V.
#7, c.p. 94/. In fact our aim was subjecting him (i.e.
Chief Criminal nayiri hunanyan - A.K.) to intensive
research, for further exploitation for the benefit of the
Republic of Armenia." /"27" Criminal Case,
V. 7, c.p. 95/.
[Let
us first of all note that the KGB does not pay special
attention to any Armenian citizen visiting Turkey. Only
those citizens are interesting from the point of view of
the KGB, who by their profession have the opportunity to
contact with /Turkish - A.K./ statesmen and figures of
social importance - i.e. the journalists. Following this
logic, we can conclude that TIGRAN NAZARYAN was at least a
KGB collaborator, because starting from the days of the
Soviet KGB in 1991, Tigran was recruited as a
correspondent working for one of the Turkish newspapers in
Armenia. - V.Gh.].

AGHVAN
ARSHAVIR VARDANYAN
(Deputy,
chief of ARF-dashnaktsutyun's parliamentary faction)
"For
several hours, the liaison between the attackers and the
President's representatives was maintained by
vice-minister of KGB GRIGOR Gareginovich GRIGORYAN and
HAIK BABOUKHANYAN. They were listening to nayiri's demands
and by coming out of the hall, were transmitting the
demands to the President's representatives; then, they
were returning back to the hall. Further to one of the
telephone conversations between Alexan Harutyunyan and
nayiri hunanyan, "Hayloor" reporter TIGRAN
NAZARYAN entered the auditorium. Afterwards, the latter
maintained intermediary negotiations with KGB's Grigor
Grigoryan and Haik Baboukhanyan."
/"27" Criminal V.8, case-pages 7/.
"It
was only after the 'incident' that I was informed by our /dashnak/
partisan comrades, that nayiri was accused in not
returning numerous books, which were temporarily put under
his disposition by his terrorist party. After quitting
ARF's "Azat Mamoul" agency, nayiri had tried to
establish a new agency called "Horizon", by
enjoying the assistance of the correspondent of one of the
Turkish newspapers TIGRAN NAZARYAN. I think that the last
fact was the cause of his 'expulsion' from
ARF-dashnaktsutyun."
/"27" Criminal V.8, case-pages 12/.
"A
little later, Alexan Harutyunyan called to my cellular
phone, I handed the phone to nayiri and they agreed upon
the entry of TIGRAN NAZARYAN to the hall of Parliament. At
times of talking by the phone, nayiri used to isolate
himself behind the pulpit; however, it was evident from
the general conversations that he was demanding the
President to come to the NA for negotiations."

VARTOUHI
/ANOUSH/ HARUTYUNYAN
(Senior
specialist of the Administration of Public Relations of
the NA of RA, "27" accomplice fugitive KGB agent
Tigran Nazaryan's girl-friend, who had provided nayiri
hunanyan with entry passes to Parliament for multiple
times - V. Gh.)
"Nayiri
was personally introduced to me about a year ago by my 'colleague'
TIGRAN NAZARYAN. Since then I knew nayiri very well as a
journalist, he is a 'well-known journalist'. By the way,
he used to come often to the Parliament as a journalist."
/"27" Criminal Case, V. 10, c.p. 71/ ,
/"27" Criminal Case, V. 13, c.p. 104-107/.
"I
reply to your question, that I had never provided an entry
pass to nayiri by his own request. This was the first case.
True that nayiri hunanyan often attended the National
Assembly building, but I always used to provide him with
entry passes further to TIGRAN NAZARYAN'S recommendation..
On October 26, around 17:00PM, I called TIGRAN (Nazaryan)
and told him that I would come to his house in around an
hour. At around 19:00 PM I was at Tigran's apartment. We
were chatting for half an hour when nayiri hunanyan called
by phone to Tigran's house. But Tigran did not take the
telephone; he told his wife to tell nayiri that he was
taking a bath. At that moment Tigran said, "You know
Anoush, yesterday (25.20.99) nayiri was looking for you.
He said that he has brought a bottle of perfume for you
and wants to hand it over to you." I was astonished,
very astonished why nayiri would have done such a
declaration. Any male should at least have my /in priory/
consent in order to present a bottle of perfume to me as a
gift. But Tigran said that he was astonished as well.
Tigran said nayiri had told him that I /Anoush/ was aware
about the bottle of perfume. Whatever; even if nayiri
would attempt to present the perfume to me as a gift, I
will refuse of course, I will certainly refuse it. I am
very principled in that respect. Anyway, Tigran told me
that nayiri had asker my phone number, residential or
business phone number and that he had given it to him."
[Here
one should pay attention to the fact that Tigran was
informing Anoush about the 'perfume' and nayiri's question
about her phone number. In fact by doing this, Anoush, the
future important witness of the Massacre, who till then
had only provided entry passes to nayiri exclusively
further to TIGRAN NAZARYAN'S's request, starting from that
moment was psychologically prepared to fulfill nayiri's
request at her own. - V. Gh.]

Armenia)
Investigator's
question: -
"Tell us about the entry of reporters and TV
operators to the hall during the operation of taking
hostages. Who called them and what were they doing inside
the hall?"
Gagik
Tadevossian: - "At first three journalists entered,
two men and one woman, I think there was a video-camera
with them. The terrorists permitted them to make short
filming. Afterwards a journalist entered into the hall,
whom I had often seen in the National Assembly, I had even
given interviews to him. He was a man with a sympathetic
face, wearing eye-glasses, bearded. If I am not mistaken,
his name was TIGRAN. He sat alone with nayiri at the floor
near the stage, leaning to the wall. They were chatting
for a long time with each other, and then the man left the
hall." /"27"

talking by phone with different people and mentioning that
they had already accomplished their mission and were
waiting for the arrival of the people and the armed groups.
For example, during one of the conversations, nayiri said,
"Tiko, come on, hurry up bring the weapons, bring the
people too." According to my observations, the
terrorists' plan consisted of two parts: 1. The physical
liquidation of Armenia's leadership and 2. Bringing some
people and armed elements to the hall of Parliament."
/"27" Criminal Case, V. 9, c.p. 97/.
[The
expression "TIKO, COME ON, HURRY UP BRING THE WEAPONS,
BRING THE PEOPLE TOO" was heard and mentioned in the
testimonies of other deputies as well, including Levon
Sarkissyan and Gagik Manoukyan. It is important to pay
attention to the fact that when TIGRAN NAZARYAN had
entered into the hall for the first time, at that exact
moment nayiri hunanyan had immediately asked him, "How
is the situation outside?" He had not asked whether
if there were people gathered outside or not, but "how
did the people accept what he had done?" Dashnak
Gegham Manukyan had mentioned in his testimony that the
first thing nayiri hunanyan did was calling to a person
called TIKO and saying the following: "I HAVE ALREADY
SLAUGHTERED THEM, TELL THEM TO COME…"

NAZARYAN too was very active, it seemed that he personally

"The
contact with the hall was maintained first of all by
vice-Minister of KGB Grigori Gareginovich Grigoryan,
deputy Haik Baboukhanyan and 'journalist' TIGRAN NAZARYAN.
By answering to your next question, I reply that as far as
I recall, before the questions and answers to the Cabinet
of Ministers, 'journalist' TIGRAN NAZARYAN was inside the
hall. As he narrated me, 1-2 hours before the 'incident'
he had gone home in order to get prepared for the midnight
release of "Hayloor", which was to be presented
by him. According to him, he was asleep at home; he was
informed about it there and had come to the National
Assembly and stayed there till the end. Judging from his
relationships with the terrorists, I got the impression
that they knew one another, at least he knew the terrorist
called nayiri." /"27" Criminal Case, V. 9,
